This Dog quilt pattern is a simple stripped and pieced image style quilt. He is the featured complete demo on YouTube. Originally designed for a baby boy we gave him a blue ball, but as the dog is a neutral theme change it to pink or purple for a more feminine look.
The pattern comes in 3 sizes: the main instruction is for the crib size 36x42, with additional pages for a smaller 24x28, and larger 48x56. The smaller is a fun wall hanging, especially with some personalization added to the ball. It can also be part of a larger quilt. The larger 48x56 size is great for Toddler beds, or as a lap / throw quilt. And if you border the largest size you can easily turn it into a twin.
Beginner Pattern. All straight cutting, and straight seams!
First the pattern will give you yardage and strip cutting instructions. Then you will use charts to cut those strips into varying length pieces labeled alphabetically. Shaping is done with quick corner half square triangles. Once the square are marked, you will follow a full page color image of the Dog also labeled alphabetically. Then sew assembly the quilt top row by row.

Back Story: This cute Dog Quilt Pattern was one of my first designs. Created for my nephew, though it was a little more pixely then. Since then I have realized half square triangles are nothing to be afraid of, especially if done in the quick corner method. My mother always like to add baby's name and birth date to the quilt she made them, so we did that in the blue ball.
This is such a simple pattern that I made it in flannel fabrics for a friend having twins. I too added both their names to the balls. I made the top identical, but put different fabrics on the back.
I have also heard of a customer who made a sibling set, one for baby and a matching one for big brother in the larger size.
