Horses, A Baby Quilt Pattern
Great for beginning quilters. All straight cutting, and straight seams. The instructions include fabric yardage, cutting instructions, triangle tips, sewing instructions, and basic finishing instruction.
The pattern first uses a chart with the given number of strips to be cut for each color. Second, it has a set of charts with piece lengths to be cut and labeled from those strips. The shaping is done with quick corner triangles, or the “snowball method” where a sew line is drawn corner to corner on a square and place on top of another square or rectangle. Once those squares are marked you follow a full page color labeled image of the Horses, assembling piece by piece row by row.
This image may have a few more triangles than most due to the roof and mane, so it may take more time, but it is not any harder.
I designed this quilt for a neighbor who really wanted to make a horse blanket for her granddaughter who loves horses! As my own daughter also had a horse phase I was happy to help. If you are looking for a more realistic design see "Sheri's Horse"
