This Martial Art Quilt Pattern was originally created for a Grandma so wanted to make it for a grandson that was loving his martial arts class. I created a long hair variation at the same time. This is a quick and easy pieced quilt pattern made in the Counted Quilts method.
1. Cut 4 sizes of Strips. 2. Cross cut those strips into varying lengths. 3. Follow a full page alphabetically labeled image, sewing piece by piece, row by row.
The main instruction is for a 36x42 image shown. There are 2 additional pages with alternate measurements for a 24x28 and 48x56 quilt size. Adding borders can give you even more flexibility with the finished quilt so you can make it for kids of all ages.
It is easy to change the colors of the fabric to match the belt or background color you want.
My daughter pointed out if you changed the fabric color you turn the short hair option into a ninja (see last image) This would require you to make the belt red instead of black, and change the hair, clothing, and a few skin pieces to black. I don't recommend doing this unless you have altered other patterns in the past. But I am here to answer questions.
Ninja variation coming soon.
