This Super Hero pattern is a super choice for any little one. There are so many possibilities with this pattern.
The pattern instructions are written for a single Red Boy Hero. But a simple change was made to the hair, altering 2 rows to give the flowing hair. This change is included in the same pattern to make it a super girl. And of course you can also have so much fun with fabric choice and the outfit.
Using these options, I decided to make Super friends repeating the pattern 4 times. I made 2 boys and 2 girls with different outfits, but the same background. You can see in the example pictures that you could also change the background as well, or make a super family all in the same color outfit and background.
You can also add symbols or letters to the chest to personalize it even more.
3 sizes: Wall 24"x28", Crib 36"x42", and Lap 48"x56". So many options!
Traditional single hero baby quilt , or lap quilt
4 Hero Throw made from 4 small 24x28, with 1 inch sashing and 2 1/2 inch outside border finished size 56x64.
4 Hero Twin made from 4 small 24x28, with 2 inch sashing and 6 in border, another 6 inch top and bottom gives a finished size of 66x86.
6 Hero Twin from 6 small with 1 inch sashing and 8 inches on the sides.
1 Large 48x56 needs 9 inches on each side I suggest a double border 3 and 6, and 15 inches top and bottom. I suggest 3, 6, 6.
Skill Level: Beginner
The pattern lists fabric yardage, then charts for how many strips to cut, and then how many pieces to cut from those strips. Once the pieces are cut you follow a full page color labeled picture, sewing straight 1/4 inch seams. The shaping is done with quick corner triangles, or the "snowball method". Lay a square on top and sew corner to corner, then trim and flip. Which means all straight cutting and all straight seams.
