I have now made a land turtle, or Tortoise, cousin to the Sea Turtle already in my inventory. This cute little fellow is a simple design perfect of a Baby Quilt or lap quilt. It is the type of pattern that you can have a lot of fun choosing fabric for. This Tortoise is made in the Counted Quilts stripped and pieced method.
Sizes: The main instruction is for a 36"x42" quilt top, there are two additional pages with measurements to scale the image to a smaller 24"x28" and larger 48"x56". Add borders for even more variations.
Method: These image style quilts are made in a stripped and pieced method. Step 1 cut strips of varying sizes. Step 2 cut into different length pieces and label alphabetically. Then step 3 follow a full page labeled color image, sewing piece by piece and row by row. Thin lines are made with iron-on ribbon or tight zig-zag stitch.
